Hulu and iTunes Get More Anime

By Kumiko Hikaru - Jul. 10, 2009

The anime world is expanding as more official websites are bringing anime to fans on the internet, which may boost the industry.

For many years the only real way for fans to watch their favorite anime series online was through an unofficial website, typically without consent, or payment to, the producers. Along with piracy, many in the industry had thought this was a potential cause for declining anime sales and slowing markets.

Now, though, with Hulu's addition of Robotech and more, while VIZ Media brings it's Honey and Clover to iTunes, fans have more official locations for their fandom online.

Hulu is also expanding their Sci-Fi offerings, too, which is much appreciated by the many older fans. Hulu has been slowly releasing episodes of the British TV series, Merlin, and also has the entire Firefly/Serenity series online as well.
